Kshamenk, Argentina's LAST SURVIVING CAPTIVE ORCA IN SOUTH AMERICA, has been living in the world's smallest Orca tank at Mundo Marino for more than 30 years.
He has not seen another Orca for more than 20 years and has been housed with a female bottlenose dolphin ever since.
His physical and mental condition seemed to have deteriorated since 2022.
Recent drone footage and eyewitness reports suggest that he is not doing well. He can often be seen floating lifelessly in his small pool and does not participate in high energy show performances anymore.
Nevertheless, Mundo Marino doesn't get tired of misrepresentation to the public about his "excellent health".
Unless Kshamenk is rescued SOON, he too will certainly die tragically and senselessly in his concrete prison cell.
Kshamenk (Male, 34 years old)
Kshamenk was captured/"rescued" in Samborombon Bay, Argentina in 1992 when he was approximately 3 years old
He is 100% Argentinian Transient Orca
Kshamenk was forcibly driven ashore with three other Orca relatives, but is the sole captive survivor of the group
He lived together with a female Orca called Belen until she died in 2000. Belen was pregnant with Kshamenk's calf. He has never seen another Orca since
His dorsal fin is drooping, a sign of unhealthiness due to extreme confinement in captivity. This drooping is mostly seen in males
Around September of 2022, Kshamenk's physical appearance has taken a drastic turn for the worse. His body weight is substantially reduced.
As of January 2024, his body condition has not improved. He is clearly deteriorating badly and needs IMMEDIATE rescue and care in an ocean Sanctuary
